Hip & Knees

Physical Therapy for
Hip and Knee

The human hip is the joint where the thigh meets the pelvic bone creating a ball-and-socket joint, making them very stable. Individuals who play sports, run frequently, overuse their hip joint or fall often are prone to hip injuries. The most common of these injuries include strains, bursitis, dislocations, tendonitis and fractures. Knee injuries are subcategorized into three groups – knee ligament injuries, meniscus injury, and kneecap disorders. Kneecap, patella, injuries are sustained in the form of a dislocation, subluxation or chondromalacia. Knee ligament injuries include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and medical collateral ligament (MCL). Lastly, a meniscus injury is due to a cartilage tear.
