Aquatics Therapy for
Chronic Pain
In the United States, an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from persistent chronic pain any given year. These individuals have an undiminishing pain lasting for over three months. At Classic Rehabilitation, Inc. we understand that chronic pain does not just affect the individual but those who surround them as well. We also know that medication and surgery can take a toll on a patient’s body reducing their overall self-esteem and overall quality of life. For this exact reason aquatic (water) therapy is becoming increasingly popular. Aquatic therapy has been proven to decrease chronic pain, speed up recovery time, and improve the patient’s overall function. The exercises may be engaged in a pool to assist the healing and exercising performances. Since many patients are incapable of beginning most forms of physical and occupational therapy due to their pain levels, aquatic therapy allows for the patient to have weightlessness, all in all decreasing their discomfort.
